Andrea (An): Biomedical Engineering Graduate, now Math Tutor

I grew up in Calgary, Alberta and attended French immersion from K-12. In high school I developed a love for math, because I enjoyed the steps and the rules involved. I started helping my friends succeed in math as well, by explaining these steps. I loved seeing their eyes light up with understanding. Outside of school I coached both field hockey and ski racing, and I saw how the tailored approach of 1:1 teaching and coaching helped students understand and grasp difficult concepts. Graduating from high school, I decided to combine my love of math and biology, and went into biomedical engineering.

After graduating from the University of Guelph as an engineer, I took time off to ski in Fernie before continuing my engineering career. In this time, I worked part-time for a tutoring company and loved it! I enjoyed watching my students learn and understand tricky concepts that were new to them. After a skiing injury made me unable to work an 8-5 engineering job, I turned back to tutoring and I am now working as a tutor full-time.
